At St Brendan’s we foster and encourage our students to engage in learning experiences which allow them to express themselves creatively. Our students enjoy, value and understand the nature of art forms in their own and other cultures.
Our students learn to appreciate the meanings and values that each artform offers. They perform and express themselves through the visual arts, music, drama and dance. Our school offers a range of extra-curricular activities on site during and after school hours which support this learning.
Creative Arts in K-6 is designed to enable students to gain increasing understanding and accomplishment in the visual arts, music, drama and dance. Creative Arts is also designed for students to appreciate the meanings and values that each of the art forms offers personally, culturally and as a form of communication.
The art forms can be thought about in a variety of ways. They play a significant role in how meaning is made in people’s lives. Visual arts, music, drama and dance offer students of all ages opportunities for personal expression, enjoyment, creative action, imagination, emotional response, aesthetic pleasure and the creation of shared meanings.
Our teachers implement a balanced Creative Arts programme, as reflected in the school’s Scope and Sequence. They plan a variety of learning activities to develop the students’ knowledge, skills and understandings using a range of traditional and contemporary media and technologies. Our aim is to enable students to discover and develop their creative side, in balance with more traditional academic subjects. All teaching programs are aligned to the Creative Arts Syllabus.

Dance, Drama and Performance
St Brendan’s students are given opportunities to be involved in whole school productions which involve music, dance and drama. We have a team of highly motivated teachers at St Brendan’s who ensure that these opportunities are readily available for students. These productions include; School musicals and Wakkakiri. School Choir Weekly rehearsals are on offer for the choir. Children are able to then perform at school masses, parish functions and community events. We also provide opportunities for our students to perform for our local community at local organisations and shopping centres. Our choir have an opportunity to participate in a Choral Day which combines a number of Central Coast Catholic Schools and is held on alternate years. Music Program St Brendan’s students have an opportunity to learn and play music through group lessons or as part of an ensemble. Each class engages in weekly Music lessons.
